A few weeks ago we were able to use a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL for a roadtrip the RGV. It has room for seven passengers and has a third row! Check out my 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL Review.

With a family of five and a dog we packed the mid-size SUV pretty full!

What Works for Families
What Didn’t Work For Our Family
For us when we take a semi long road trip like we did, not having WiFi can be a problem. As you can imagine a 6 yr old, a 3 yr old, and a 1 year old, sitting in a carseat for 5 hours can be rather painful. While we like to limit screen time with our kids, our trusty iPad comes to the rescue when we have to travel for long stretches. With an iPad they can stream Netflix, play games, and watch some YouTube. The SUV we received didn’t have WiFi. I researched online and couldn’t find any mention of WiFi as an add on for this vehicle which is kind of a bummer because that would have been extra clutch to keep the kiddos happy. It did come with Apple Car Play integrated and a touch screen media center. We were able to steam Pandora and listen to some great songs along the way but the kids lost interest with their iPads because they couldn’t stream any content.
While I was annoyed that the vehicle didn’t have WiFi to keep the kids quiet on the ride the SUV did come with some awesome safety features. Lane assist was a major safety feature that impressed me because every time you were drifting off to another lane the vehicle would alert you. Driving for long distances you can become distracted or even start getting tired, so that was a good feature to include.
It also features a 360 view of the SUV when parking and reversing. Also, it has a back up camera so you can see who is behind you. In my opinion, this is a great safety feature. I have backed into more fences than I can count with my daily driver and being able to see when to stop is great.
This was fun and safe SUV to drive that fit all 5 of us and a dog on latest roadtrip.
