Coming up in about 70 days, is an event that is near and dear to our heart. For the past two years, since my son has been able to run, we have attended the CASA Superhero Run and this year is no different. This will be our third year participating and supporting CASA of Travis County.
This year my entire family is participating, my wife, my two boys, my newborn, and myself. We don’t know exactly what we want to dress up as this year but I am sure we will get something together. If anyone has any ideas we’d love to hear them!
During our first CASA Superhero Race at Mueller Park my son, Santiago was superman and I wore a t-shirt with a Superman S on my chest and a cape. My lovely wife, this awesome picture of me and my oldest son.

Last year the race was held out in Cedar Park and my oldest Santiago was Spider Man; I wore the same shirt I wore during our first race. This year I need to really switch it up.
After meeting with Callie Langford, Director of Communications for CASA of Travis County and Steven Olender, Director of Marketing for CASA of Travis County, they explained to me that this year the 2015 CASA Superhero 5k and Kids K will be held at the Domain, in north Austin. During last years race, there was slight dip in participation because the race was held out in Cedar Park and there was a slight confusion about the Austin Superhero race not being in town. The decision was made to bring it back inside the Austin City Limits and lucky for us the Domain is right down the road so we will be ready for this years race. All the funds raised by the race are donated to CASA of Travis County, CASA of Williamson County and CASA of Central County which services Caldwell, Comal, Guadalup and Hays Counties.
This CASA organization is such a great cause and I love supporting it. CASA is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocates and the organization and volunteers speak up for children who have been abused or neglected by empowering the community volunteer as advocated for children in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety because the people responsible for protecting them have not, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations and help judges decide what is best for the child.
CASA of Travis County was Founded in 1985 and supports over 600 volunteers who advocate for more than 1,600 children a year.
CASA of Williamson County was founded in 2009 and supports 100 volunteer and advocate for 150 children a year.
CASA of Central Texas was founded in 1985 and supports 250 volunteers who advocate for 450 children a year.
I am extremely excited for this years race and here are some details about the 2015 CASA Superhero Race.
